About Our Camps

Published in SportsCoaches by meg |

We've been talking so much about our different summer camps, let's talk for a moment about our camp philosophy. At Anthony Newman's Sports Camps, we want to help children and teens improve their athletic abilities, but more importantly, we'd like to provide children a chance to develop good sportsmanship.

We provide a safe, fun and friendly environment for campers. Our trained and dedicated staff will help campers improve their skills and learn more about their chosen sport. We do our best to make our camps a warm and supportive atmosphere for all skill and experience levels, and we encourage all campers to work hard to achieve their fullest potential, both on the field and off.

Our goal is to encourage a love of sports and good sportsmanship, while providing a fun place to make new friends.

Coach John Neal

Published in Sports by meg |

John Neal will be the guest speaker for the Defensive Back position at our youth football coaches clinic.

John Neal, who has over twenty years experience tutoring defensive secondaries in the Pacific-10, Southeastern, Conference USA and Western Athletic conferences, is entering his sixth season with Oregon, with the Ducks displaying major improvements every season.

Californian Coach Neal has fostered an aggressive mentality amongst all his players which is conducive to his defenders focusing on the football as much as opponents' receivers. The result has been the building of secondaries that have been among the nation's leaders in interceptions. The Ducks' 20 interceptions in 2007 were the second-most among Pac-10 schools and tied for tenth in the nation, while cornerback Jairus Byrd tied for ninth among individuals.

Neal is a 1980 graduate of Brigham Young, where he wasa two-year letterman for the Cougars in 1978-79, earning all-WAC honors as a defensive back as a senior. He transferred to BYU after playing two seasons at Foothill Junior College in Los Altos Hills, California.

Coach Neal, along with Steve PyneJuston Wood, Neal Zoumboukis and others, will be speaking at our upcoming football coaches clinic.

Offensive Line Specialist Neal Zoumboukus

Published in Sports by meg |
Neal Zoumboukus will be the guest speaker for the Offensive Line position at our youth football coaches clinic.

Coach Zoumboukus has spent 40 years in the collegiate coaching ranks. His flexibility is best demonstrated by his role in the development of NFL lineman Adam Snyder, who was chosen as the Pac-10's top offensive lineman in 2004, as well as his role honing the skills of tight end Josh Wilcox, who established the school's one-game record for most receptions by a tight end (11) in the 1995 Rose Bowl.

Zoumboukos has encountered a great deal of success as an on-the-field technician as well as a recruiter. Under his watchful eye in 2000 and 2001, his unit paved the way for Oregon's eighth and ninth 1,000-yard rushers, Maurice Morris and Onterrio Smith. In 2002, the line helped Smith join Morris as the only Ducks to rush for 1,000 yards in back-to-back seasons. In 2003, the Duck line helped anchor an offense that ranked second in the conference in red zone scoring (with an impressive record of 85.7%). In 2004, the offensive line helped running back Terrence Whitehead rush for 1,144 yards, good for second in the Pac-10. As a team, Oregon rushed for over 140 yards per game eight of the previous nine seasons in addition to leading the Pac-10 in fewest quarterback sacks allowed in 2001, 2000 and 1999 before lending his expertise elsewhere. Coach Zoumboukus now holds the position of University of Oregon's Special Assistant to Athletic Director.
