Newman’s Corner

Scott Kellar is the current Boys Varsity Basketball Coach at Century High School in Hillsboro. He has coached and inspired young athletes for 20 years, starting his career as an assistant coach at Western Oregon University. For the last 16 years, he has been a head coach, including ten years at Century High School. Scott has had a very successful coaching career, leading three different high schools into the state playoffs, including a Northwest Oregon Conference Championship this past season. This past season he took his team all the way to the state championship game but lost a tough battle. Scott's teams are characterized by their solid fundamentals and the level of effort that they display.

Scott also has an abundance of camp experience. He has been in charge of the Basketball Camps on the Nike campus for 12 years, and has run his own high school camps for 16 years, and has worked camps for coaching legends Mike Krzyzewski and the leader in all-time high school wins, Morgan Wooten. His philosophy of emphasizing skill improvement, competition, and a great deal of enthusiasm as been a winning combination for players.
